TCS Recruitment Process 2026

Hiring process, technical interview topics, and preparation tips for TCS — for freshers, students, and experienced professionals.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is a global technology services, consulting, and business solutions organization and a part of the Tata group. TCS offers opportunities for students, fresh graduates, experienced professionals, interns, researchers, and professionals returning to the workforce.

TCS works with organizations worldwide across technology services, consulting, cloud, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, enterprise solutions, engineering, and business operations. Its careers website provides separate pathways for entry-level candidates and internships as well as lateral or experienced hiring.

TCS Hiring Process

TCS does not follow one identical recruitment process for every vacancy. The stages depend on the hiring program, job role, experience level, skills, location, and eligibility criteria.

A typical hiring process may include:

Registration / Job Search Application Eligibility & Profile Screening TCS NQT / Assessment, if applicable Interview Round(s) Final Selection Offer

For experienced professionals, candidates generally search for an open position, submit an application, undergo profile evaluation, and, if shortlisted, are invited for interviews. Additional technical, managerial, functional, or client rounds may be included depending on the position.

Ways to Get Hired at TCS

Candidates can find TCS opportunities through several recruitment channels:

  • On-Campus / Entry-Level Hiring: TCS conducts fresher and entry-level hiring programs for eligible graduating batches and participating institutions.
  • TCS All India NQT Hiring: Eligible engineering and postgraduate technology candidates may apply to TCS's All India NQT hiring drives when registrations are open.
  • Off-Campus Hiring: Candidates can follow official TCS fresher-hiring announcements and apply to eligible drives.
  • Internships / Entry-Level Opportunities: TCS India Careers provides a dedicated Entry Level & Internships pathway.
  • Lateral / Experienced Hiring: Experienced professionals can search current roles through TCS Careers and the iBegin application system.
  • Walk-In / Specialized Hiring Drives: TCS periodically publishes role-specific and business-unit hiring drives, including walk-in opportunities.
  • Rebegin: TCS Rebegin is an initiative designed for women professionals seeking to return to the workforce after a career break.

The availability of each hiring channel depends on current business requirements and the specific recruitment program.

How to Apply for a TCS Job

  1. Search for an Opportunity — Visit the official TCS Careers website. Choose the relevant geography and candidate category, then search for a suitable opening or active hiring program.
  2. Read the Eligibility / Job Description — Check educational qualification, year of passing, experience, required skills, location, academic criteria, and any program-specific conditions.
  3. Register and Apply — For entry-level NQT hiring, TCS directs candidates to the TCS NextStep Portal. For many experienced-professional openings, the TCS Careers application redirects candidates to the TCS iBegin portal, where they can create a profile and apply.
  4. Track the Application — For an NQT drive, candidates should confirm that the application status shows that they have applied for the drive. Other applicants should monitor official TCS communications and their application portal.
  5. Assessment / Interviews — Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an assessment, coding test, technical interview, managerial or functional discussion, or other role-specific selection stages.
  6. Selection & Offer — Candidates who clear the applicable stages may receive a formal offer, subject to eligibility verification, documentation, background checks, and other TCS requirements.

Exams Conducted by TCS

TCS NQT (National Qualifier Test) is a major assessment used in TCS entry-level hiring. For the official TCS All India NQT Hiring for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 batches, TCS states that the integrated test contains Foundation and Advanced sections and is conducted at TCS iON Centres.

TCS NQT Test Pattern

The published test pattern includes a Foundation Section (Numerical Ability, Verbal Ability, and Reasoning Ability — 75 minutes in total) and an Advanced Section (Advanced Quantitative & Reasoning Ability plus Advanced Coding — 115 minutes in total), for a total duration of 190 minutes. Performance in the test is used to qualify candidates for applicable Prime, Digital, or Ninja interviews.

Note: Recruitment drives have specific registration windows. Candidates should check the official TCS Careers site for the next active drive rather than relying on an old deadline.

Interview Rounds in TCS

The exact TCS interview process varies by hiring program and position. Entry-level candidates who qualify through an applicable assessment may be invited to interviews based on their performance and eligibility.

Round 1: Online / In-Centre Assessment, if applicable

For TCS NQT entry-level hiring, the assessment can cover numerical ability, verbal ability, reasoning, advanced quantitative and reasoning ability, and coding, depending on the applicable test sections.

Final Stage: Selection & Offer

Candidates who clear the required stages and satisfy TCS eligibility requirements may receive an offer. The number and type of interview rounds can differ significantly by role.

Note: Not every TCS candidate will go through all of these rounds. Some positions may have fewer rounds, while others may include additional technical, functional, or client-based stages.

When Do TCS Vacancies Open?

TCS does not use one universal annual vacancy calendar for all jobs. Openings depend on business requirements, graduating batches, skill demand, geography, and individual hiring initiatives.

Entry-Level / NQT Hiring

TCS publishes specific registration start dates, deadlines, and test dates for each active drive. Candidates should follow the official TCS India Careers and fresher-hiring pages because each batch can have a different schedule.

Experienced / Lateral Hiring

Experienced-professional openings are updated on an ongoing basis according to available roles. TCS also publishes specialized and walk-in drives when required.

Best Practice

Check TCS Careers regularly and rely on the dates shown on the individual official job or hiring-program page. Do not assume that a previous NQT deadline applies to a new batch.

Important Note for Candidates

TCS does not have one fixed interview sequence or recruitment pattern for every job. Candidates should always read the current official job posting or hiring-drive page for the exact eligibility criteria, application deadline, assessment pattern, and selection stages.

TCS states that it does not ask candidates for any payment or security deposit at any stage of recruitment. Legitimate TCS hiring emails use the @tcs.com domain — verify suspicious offers through official channels.
